RED PAINT!!

Finally, I have some red paint on my red bus.  Last Monday, April 25, right after the Texas Classic, I painted the Pastel White on the roof and around the windows.  It turned out pretty good with a few runs and some orange peel, but nothing a little color sanding won't take care of.

All week, I've been getting ready to shoot the Chianti red.  On Saturday I got everything taped off, the garage swept out and ready to go.  At the last minute I found a few small dings and took care of them before shooting the paint.

After church today I went straight to the garage and sprayed the floor down and was ready.

The first two pictures show the Pastel White on the roof and sides.  The next two show the tape job and plastic wrap before the red.  The first two on the bottom show the tack coat - a light spray to make the next coat stick better.  The last two are the finished job. I'm resisting the temptation to pull the tape off tonight and giving it until tomorrow night.  By the way, red paint is a pain in the old behind.  The white over spray just swept up afterwards.  However, the red on the floor is stuck on the floor.

My $50 HVLP gun did just fine.  I really had to open up the paint nozzle on the red to get it to go on heavy enough to get it to flow.  The final coat I was basically daring it to run, and I did finally get a few runs, but I was afraid I would end up with nothing but orange peel.

Can't wait until tomorrow to pull the plastic off and see if that red found a hole in my taping or plastic.

Stay tuned!
