Rust Repair

Sparky shined up nicely, but beneath that shiny paint lurked Mr. Rust.  Someone thought a little BONDO took care of Mr. Rust, but they were wrong.  Really wrong.  The photos below show the tell tell signs of a problem below the surface.

Based on what I could see, I bought replacement panels from the Bus Depot and Wolfsburg West and a few new tools at Harbor Freight.  If you are planning to do some rust repairs yourself, buy an extra 20 cut-off disks for your 4" angle grinder, you'll use them.  The next photos show some of the progress on the right, rocker panel, right rear corner panel, wheel arch and battery tray.  12/28/04.
