Rust Repairs Page 3

Well the glue is cured on the wheel arch, outer rocker and battery tray and the fit looks good.  The next step is to start working on the lower rear corner.  The fit of this piece is the toughest so far.  Plus, the original upper corner had been hit and filled with Bondo.  I ground out all the old Bondo and will smooth it all together.

Top left - corner has a flange created by a pneumatic flange tool.  I ground the rust or paint and it's ready for the glue.  You can see the battery tray also.

Top right - two part FUSOR 108B glue.  I increased the amount I used on this second time around to ensure any uneven places are filled with glue.

Lower left - Clamped in place.  The holes are from the earlier body work.  I will fill them from the inside with the fiberglass body filler.  Also, note the pop rivets to help hold the pieces together that I can't get a clamp on.

Lower right - Fist coat of RestoGrip fiberglass body filler in place.  It is surprisingly smooth and won't require much body work to smooth out the joint.  The black paint is POR-15 painted on before the filler.  If you apply the filler before the POR-15 is completely cured, it will make a 100% bond.

Tomorrow, I will use the fiberglass filler on the corner and begin using the StraightLine body filler on the wheel arch.
